How to write a creator brief that gets great content

The six things every brief needs, plus a free template you can copy for your next campaign.

A good brief is the difference between content you love and content you have to send back. It doesn’t need to be long. It needs to be clear.

Every strong brief answers six questions.

1. What is the goal?

Say what success looks like in one sentence. For example: “Get people in Ikeja to order our new weekend combo.” This helps creators decide how to frame the content.

2. Who are you trying to reach?

Describe your customer in plain words: age, location, interests and what they care about. The creator will know how to speak to them.

3. What should people remember?

Pick one main message and no more than three key points. Too many messages make the content feel like an advert.

4. What exactly do you need?

  • Format: for example 1 Instagram reel and 3 stories.
  • Length: for example a 30–45 second reel.
  • Must-haves: your handle, link, discount code or hashtag.
  • Deadline: when it should go live.

5. Any dos and don’ts?

List anything that’s off-limits, such as competitor products, certain claims or language. Keep it short and reasonable.

6. How will you review it?

Explain when you’ll review drafts and how many changes are included. On InfluencerBridge, you review the submitted content before approving payment from escrow.

A clear brief saves you a round of revisions and the creator a round of guessing.

Copy these six headings into your next campaign post on InfluencerBridge and you’ll get better pitches and better content.
